Popup Blocker in Map GUI

I have the Fusion Maps Enterprise on my PC and am trying to use the map GUI to create Markers. However, despite have popups disabled for "Intranet" settings, I continue to get popups and am unable to create my markers. I also checked all my Intranet ActiveX settings and they are all currently enabled. What else might I be missing?:(

Cannot make JavaScript aware of FusionMaps in SharePoint

Hi All,

I'm not able to make javascript aware of my FusionMaps in SharePoint. I've no problems making javascript aware of FusionCharts though.

Also, taking the same code that I'm using in SharePoint works fine when taken outside of sharepoint. When one references elements in a web part via javascript you need to use getElementById. After some extensive testing, I'm suspecting that FusionCharts.js is doing a better job of this than FusionMaps.js.

Has anyone else run into this problem of making javascript aware of the maps per the instructions in SharePoint web parts?

Clickable FusionMap Markers

I have downloaded the FusionMaps Trial and so far like what I can accomplish. Is there a way to include the map marker with the link for that entity? If a user sees the marker they will try to click on it and right now it does nothing.

Identify states with no values

Hi,

i created a US map using fusionmaps v3. the problem is I do not have data i want to display for all states, so its displaying values for all the states that have corresponding values which is good, but states with no values its blank and using some light yellow color.

1. Can i use my own custom color for all those states for which i do not have values?

2. Can i display a custom message for all those states for which i do not have values (message like n/a or no data etc..)

Map not showing IE6 or IE7

Hello,

My map will not load in IE6 or IE7. It works on Firefox for PC and Mac.

It is not working from either the server or from the desktop of the machine. (I have not tried running it from http://localhostxxxx as I don't think think that will help.)

Clicking on map entity isn't calling handler

I'm using FusionMaps inside a flash movie and am having trouble getting click events when I click on a map entity. I even tried the included sample (Code/FlashExamples/ClickHandler.fla), which traces when an entity is clicked, and that doesn't get called either.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Javascript links not working

I have made a simple drill down map which drills down from the world regions map into continents.
The problem that I am facing is that even though the World map is getting created and the continents have become clickable links, NOTHING happens when I click the links.

I enabled debug mode and saw that the xml was correct. Here is the xml that is printed while debugging.

I think this could have happened if the methods don't exist. But, I have all the javascript methods in the page and i tried putting alerts in them. None of clicks actually call my javascript function. But, when I call them from anywhere outside the map, it works fine.

Please tell me what could be wrong with something like this.

Map Sizing

I'm using V3 maps and they do not always maintain there sizing after a page refresh or after I return to the page later in my session and an entity attribute has changed (e.g. color change). They do occupy the same space but appear zoomed and cropped.

One of the maps that I'm using is the "FCMap_USA.swf" with W = 580 and H = 356.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this? I have demonstrated this problem with several different browsers.

Putting my flash file next to fusionmap flash file created display problem

I've got a fusionmap on my homepage and directly next to it another flash file I created. When refreshing the screen, my flash file temporarily displays three times in random places until the page is fully loaded, at which point everything looks fine. I've tried seperating the flash files into divs, tables, nothing works??

I am using your fusionmaps in a .Net application. I am using
setDataXML method and trying to use the "JavaScript functions as links". But
even after passing the valid XML, swf is giving message "invalid XML data". and
when I try using setDataURL method, and passing the same xml from external
file, its working properly. Can't I use setDataXML for "JavaScript functions
as links"?

World Map Target Countries (x n y coordinates)

Hi guys,

I have some questions on Fusion Map :
I would like to do a Country Hit map similar to the example given in the Gallery.

From what I understand, longitude and latitude cannot be used, instead x and y coordinates need to be used.

However, I would like to know how do I get the x and y coordinates for each countries. The example in the gallery does not have a complete entry of countries. I do not find anything similar in the documentation either.

One way I could do it would be identifying the capital city coordinates (from the list of cities given in the documentation)
However from what i see in the documentation, the list is not complete as a number of countries is not included there.

How can I solve this problem?
Is there anywhere where i can get the list of x and y coordinates for every country?

One more question is whether this map is scalable. Meaning if i resize the map, do i need to change my x and y coordinates?

USING GUI

I am a non-developer and I made a simple map in the GUI application with markers on particular states that link to pages on my website.

Now I want to add markers with new links and colored states to that map, how do I load it into the gui again?

I can only see how to create a brand new map and start all over again.

Patterns instead of colors

Hi!
I need to combine two types of information on the same map. For example, population density and crime rate. States should be colored according to population density, and also patterned (dots, grids, lines etc) for crime rate.
(I know I can play with tooltips and markers, but I am required to provide this exact visual representation).

My plan is as follows:
With Flash, alter the .swf to have two identical maps with the same coordinates.
Color one map; fill with patterns the second one.
Make the patterned map transparent.

The problem I have is how to fill states with patterns and not colors. Is it possible? Which attribute I should set to the map entities, what is the syntax?

Difficulty changing data values

Hi All,

Been playing with the eval versions of both charts and maps. I can alter the XML values within the XML data file for the 'Sales Chart' Example... and it works fine upon refresh....

However, the World Map example is a different kettle of fish. I can chane the population data for any of the entities... with nothing happening on screen.

I also tried my own "map", one of the UK by altering the HTML, and what SWF map file it points to... map comes up fine... but the data entities arent shown on screen at all. I have ensured the entities are named correctly - as per map specifications..

Is this something to do with it being a demo verision, or am I doing something wrong?

Any thoughts would be greatly apprecaited.

in the Europe Map, Cyprus is still displayed as one country, but in fact there are two: a Greek part and a Turkish part. Is it possible to have this corrected?

What has to be done to rectify this? ( Two site licenses depend on this )

Here is what I am trying to accomplish:

page loads with mapdiv in place, but no map object in existence.

'search' button is clicked. Search button (via javascript):
checks to see if map object currently exists (if(! getMapFromId("map1")));
if no map object exists, create one (value of the swf file to use is passed in to function at onClick of search button)
var map = new FusionMaps(swfPath,"map1","700","400","0", "1");
Ajax request executes to retrieve entity xml appropriate for the swf file chosen;
newly created map is updated and rendered via the Ajax call's 'onComplete' handler
var mapobj = getMapFromId("map1");
mapobj.setDataXML(ajaxrequest.responseText);
mapobj.render("mapdiv");

Why would this not work? What is wrong with this approach/logic? The symptoms are:
ver mapobj = getMapFromId("map1") is undefined. It's as though it does not exist.

How can I reinitialize my map object client side whenever a different map is selected, no frames, no iframes, all within a single page? Any assistance and input you can provide is much appreciated. Most helpful would be a very very simple example of Javascript that does something similar to what I'm describing. I have looked through online examples, documentation, googled it....

ex:

I tried and [backslash]n and [backslash]r[backslash]n in the XML file, but both just showed up in the tool tip.

Databases and Fusion Maps

I would like to use Fusion maps in conjuction with a database that I can set different paramaters with. Such as: When the state is clicked on a country map, the state map will open showing the counties within that state.

Then when the county is clicked on it will pull information from a database I have but I want to be able to specify how many records are pulled from the database, and in which order they come up. Is this possible?

I would also like to use a database that people can add themselves to, or update their records also to minimize the maintenance time for me.

What is the best, and easiest database to use with Fusion Maps? I would love to find something that is easy to understand and modify whenever and however I want.

I would also like to know if there is anyone I can hire to build what I'm looking for in a database and Fusion Maps.

Can you show a picture instead of tooltip?

Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to have a picture pop up when you hover over a marker and not a tooltip. For example, I would like to have a map that has our locations plotted on it and when the user hovers over the location marker, have a picture of the location along with the address pop up. I know I can have it link to a page that shows that but I have been asked for this instead.

Hello,

is it possible to calculate the x,y-coordinates on a map for cities, sites etc. if i have latitude/longitude?
It seems like there is no simple way to do this and that the conversion formula lat/long -> x,y coordinate is different for each map.

Do PowerMaps work with Flex V2.0.1 ?

Hi,

I like the look of PowerMaps and have an application where they'd be very useful, I think. The application, however, would be in Flex V2.0.1 - I wonder if someone could tell me if PowerMaps would be embeddable into this version of Flex ? I *think* it would require PowerMaps to be built for the V8/V9 Flashplayer ?

Also, would I be able to set regional colours via Flex, on ther PowerMap dynamically ? Additionally, does PowerMap provide any kind of callback/event when a user clicks on a map region - so that I could detect this in the Flex code and act accordingly ?

putting tabular matter inside a marker

I have a Fusion Map and a basic xml file configured and running. The data that I would like to include in the marker section something that would look like this:

(the just stands for "tab space")

Candidate Votes Percent Delegates Winner?
Clinton 100 55.0 10 X
Obama 50 25.0 5 X
Edwards 50 25.0 5 X

I have seen examples of multi-line data that appeared to have line breaks but I do not see in the documentation how to insert a line break -- or line ender.
Also, is there an xml equivalent here for the "tab" character? I would like these to format up as tabular matter.

Overriding markerBgColor in toolTip and Marker

I want to place two markers on each state. I want the two markers in each state to be different colors (red and blue, for example).

The documentation says, "This attribute lets you set a common background color for all the defined markers on the map. You can later over-ride individual marker colors by using SHAPE definitions." I have tried putting "markerBgColor='(colorcode)'
in this line of my code:

Only show certain tooltips

I am producing a map of a country and need to have tooltips on some counties and not on some others. Like tooltips on the West Coast states and not on the other states in the US.

Is this possible?

Setting it to an empty string produces the default tooltip and setting it to a blank produces a blank as tooltip...

Any bright ideas?
