Export Charts
In FusionCharts, you can export charts, gauges, and maps in different formats, ranging between images to Excel spreadsheets and PDF files. You can also customize various aspects of the export process, such as the name to be displayed in the export menu, the name of the exported file, or whether a number of charts are to be exported in a batch.
Here are the most common funcitonalities which you can implement:
- Customize Titles in Export Menu
- Set the Name of the Exported File
- Export at the Client Side
- Exporting via Export API Method
- Exporting All the Plots in a Scroll Chart
- Batch Export
- CSV/SVG data in a Text Area
Customize Titles in Export Menu
The export menu in FusionCharts typically displays the string “Export as” followed by the format of the exported file. Examples include - Export as PDF, Export as PNG, Export as CSV etc. However, you can customize this text, to make it easier for users with little knowledge of names of file formats.
For instance, you can replace the option “Export as PDF” with something like “Export as Printable”, which will help the end user understand that the exported file can be directly printed.

Set the Name of the Exported File
The export menu in FusionCharts typically assigns a name to the exported file. However, you can customize this name, to assign a name of your choice. If you are exporting the yearly financial report, you can name the file “FinancialReport-2017-18” followed by the extension.
For instance, as you can see in the example, the name of the exported file has been customized as “Export_file1”.

Export at the Client Side
FusionCharts can export charts on the server side or the client side. You can configure which side you want the charts exported to, as well as the name of the exported file.
For instance, in the example given here, you can see a chart configured to be exported on the client side. Also, in each case, the name of the exported file is “FusionCharts” followed by the file extension.

Exporting via Export API Method
In FusionCharts, the export button is typically placed at the top right corner of the chart. However, you can use the Export API method to place the option elsewhere within the canvas.
For instance, in the example, you can see that a dropdown menu has been placed at the bottom of the chart, along with a button captioned “Export Chart”. This allows the viewer to select the necessary option from the menu, and then click the button to export the chart in the selected format.

Exporting All the Plots in a Scroll Chart
In a scroll chart, you are not able to see all the data plots at once. However, in FusionCharts, you can still export all plots of a scroll chart at one go. The chart displays all the plots together once, before reverting to the initial view and generating the export file.
In the example, you can see a scroll chart configured to export all its plots at one go, in a single file. When the viewer clicks the “Export all dataplots” button, the chart displays all the data plots for a brief moment, before reverting to the initial view. After that, it generates the export file.
Batch Export
In FusionCharts, if you have multiple charts (of same or different types) in a page, you can export them all together, with the help of the Batch Export feature.
In the example given, the page has a column chart, a pie chart, and a bar chart in the same page, along with a button titled “Export Charts” at the bottom of it. The viewer can click on this button to export all the charts together, in a single JPG file.

CSV data /SVG in a text area
In FusionCharts, it is possible to display chart data within a text area, in SVG/CSV format. This helps viewers, who need to view the chart data, or quickly copy it without opening the data source itself.
In the gien example, you can see a Multi-series Spline chart with two radio buttons - SVG String and CSV Data, placed under it. Also, below those buttons is a text box. By clicking on one of the two buttons, the viewer can quickly view the chart data in that format within the text box. It is also possible to copy the data to the clipboard and use it in other charts.
