Donut in 2D Part of FusionCharts XT
A variation of the pie chart, the doughnut 2D chart has a blank space at the center to show useful information about the data being plotted. It is useful in depicting the share of constituents as part of a whole. It also enables users to highlight data points by slicing out doughnut slices. The magnitude of the dependent variable is proportional to the length of the arc on the circumference of the graph. It is used to show composition of data contributing to a 100%. Like for visualizing the population split in age-groups, contribution of product categories to bottom line.
Best Practices:
- Avoid using too many values in a single pie chart as it clutters the visualization.
- The pie chart works best with few constituents. Place the largest slices from the top (like on a clock) and work your way around the circle. Collectively, the data should add up to 100%.
